Some very nice destinations included in this list. Himachal and Kashmir could go really cold in December and January. I think winter is best time to explore the big places in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh or even destinations in Uttar Pradesh as these places become unbearable during summer if one’s purpose is sightseeing.

And for serious trekkers winter is ideal to be footloose in Himalayas, especially the Garhwal region in Uttarakhand or even the Frozen River trek in Ladakh
